U9s - Results & Match Reports
Almondsbury Youth Fc 9s v Yate Utd U9s | Sunday, 5th September 2010 |
Match Overall A competent, credible and encouraging performance saw AYFC U9s just edged out of the fixture 7-8 due to late goals in both games. With only 7 players available in each team the lads were exceptional and were a credit to themselves and their families with some fast, exciting football being played. Well done to all. |
| Game 1 | Almondsbury Youth F.C U9(Hawks) 5 - 2 Yate Utd |
Despite conceding an early goal(2min) the Hawks rallied together and quickly responded with a drilled equaliser from Ryan Davey (5 min). The game evened itself out for 10 mins with close exchanges from both sides supported with excellent stops from 'keeper James Lynch. The Hawks then took the lead with a Cameron Wilton strike on 17 minutes. After a period of sustained pressure shortly after half time we pressed ahead further with quick–fire strikes from Ryan Davey (23min) again, Finely Norton’s (25min) sweetly struck shot and a deserved effort from Tommy Dougall (26min). Great defending by Joel Davis-Brenchley and Will Baldwin was just not enough to prevent our guests notching their 2nd in the last minute with the final result being 5-2 to the Hawks. Overall a great performance with excellent team work standing out. |
| Star Player: Finley Norton - for committed defending and mature positional play – well done Fin a great game & goal! |
| Game 2 | Almondsbury Youth F.C U9(Eagles) 2 - 6 Yate Utd |
A new shape Eagles team took on Yate Utd B with great vigor and determination and despite conceding 2 early goals the Eagles never gave up. Mathew Barker was tireless in midfield and was ably supported by the hard working and creative Danny Seymour in the centre. Despite being three down at half time the lads were always positive and were rewarded with a goal from a stunning Callum Finn free-kick on 22 min. Taylor Wright continued to press and was rewarded with a fortunate goal, where goaline technology would have benefitted, to bring it to 2-3. Between the sticks Haydon Somers made some great stops with Joe Mortimore and Adam Thorne providing great defending. But as the game went on and with the absence of subs, we tired slightly with Yate ceasing the opportunity to score twice and finally making it 6-2 in the dying seconds with us having to rue an overall 7-8 defeat. Well done to Yate for a close, competitive and enjoyable match and well done to the Eagles for their determination and grit. |
| Star Players: Haydon Somers & Callum Finn- for volunteering to go in goal and doing a great job!! |
Overall I am delighted with the performance since on many occasions I observed the passing, movement, covering and defending that we have been working on in training. Well done to all….but we must try to find a ‘keeper for the Eagles!!
